Shoppers enjoyed snack, champagne and shopping in spite of the rainy weather on Sept. 30 at the UGG Australia opening in Georgetown.
UGG Australia feted its newest store, a concept store in Georgetown, Thursday evening, Sept. 30. The new store, filling the void left by Diesel, opened for a sneak peek for shoe lovers and curious shoppers. "We're never going to have an overflux of stores," said Kristen Thomason, PR manager for UGG Australia. The D.C. store joins the company of two, soon to be three, New York, NY stores, as well as existing and planned stores in San Franciso, Chicago, Hawaii, Miami, Vegas and L.A. More than 50 shops and restaurants will open their doors from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday to shoppers and fashionistas as part of Georgetown's first ever Fashion's Night Out. The event, which began last year in New York, brings together the fashionable and those who cater to them to celebrate fashion and give the industry an economic boost. The Georgetown event will also raise funds for a local charity while highlighting the role of fashion in the District. Jim Braco, executive director of the Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID), described Georgetown as D.C.'s "style district."
