Police Turn to the Internet in Hopes of Cracking a Georgetown Murder Case

Christine Mirzayan was brutally sexually assaulted and murdered in a wooded area off of Canal Road in Georgetown on August 1, 1998.

The D.C Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) will launch a website in the next few weeks that they hope will lead to a resolution in a cold case- the Georgetown murder of Christine Mirzayan in the summer if 1998, according to the Washington Post. Police believe they have now linked Mirzayan's killer with a man who committed eight sexual attacks in nearby Montgomery County between 1991 and 1998. Capt. Michael Farish of the D.C. police’s homicide unit told the Post: “The odds are that a guy who sexually assaults nine women — killing the last one — is not going to stop cold turkey with that kind of violence against women.” The move for the new website follows the recent break in the East Coast Rapist case, which came after an intensive media …
