Christmas Tree Collection Schedule 2012

Tree collection will begin Dec. 31

Though you are probably still enjoying the seasonal addition of a Christmas tree in the front window, it is not too early to start thinking about eventually disposing of it.  The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will pick up holiday trees and wreaths curbside from Dec. 31 to Jan. 12. Trees collected during that period will be recycled. Before you set your greenery on the curb, remove all decorations (including the pesky tinsel). Trees and wreaths should be placed in the treebox space in front of your home. DPW asks residents not to put trees in plastic or cloth bags. If you missed the Jan. 12 deadline, your tree will still be collected, but only as space in the trash trucks allows over the following weeks.
