Celebrate Father's Day with Concerts in the Park

Enjoy a free evening concert tonight at Volta Park

Concerts in the Park welcomes neighbors to celebrate Father's Day together at Volta Park tonight from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The free concert features the Morrison Brothers Band and a special father-child dance. The band offers a blend of southern rock, country, and pop to keep you tapping your feet while you enjoy a picnic on the grass. Activities for the second concert of the season include make your own Father’s Day caps and cards, t-shirt decorating and rubber duckies in water. If you don't feel like packing a picnic, food options include Häagen-Dazs ice cream and the Ball or Nothing meatball truck. To top it off, there will be special prizes just for dads. Happy Father's Day!

The first concert of the Citizens Association of Georgetown 10th annual Concerts in the Park summer series filled Volta Park with dancing toddlers, music, balloons and more Sunday evening.  The next concert is Sunday, June 17 for Father's Day, also at 5 p.m. in Volta Park.

Concerts in the Parks Start Next Weekend

The first of three concerts is Sunday, May 20.

The Citizens Association of Georgetown's Concerts in the Parks kicks off its 10th year with the first of three summer concerts next Sunday. Concerts this season are scheduled for May 20, June 17 and Wednesday, July 4. The first concert next weekend will be a Pink and Green festival at Volta Park, at the intersection of 34 Street and Q Street. The event starts at 5 p.m. "The 'Pink and Green' theme will raise awareness for Breast Cancer and highlight the importance of living green," according to a press release about the event.

Concerts in the Park Raises Funds, But Who Robbed the Bank?

The annual fundraiser for the Citizens Association of Georgetown Concerts in the Park series is March 3.

Concerts in the Park celebrates 10 years of free concerts for the Georgetown community this year and kicks off that celebration with a true "Whodunit" at TD Bank Saturday, March 3 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The "Who Robbed the Bank?" event will raise funds to support the three free summer concerts in the Georgetown community in May, June and July. Guests will enjoy cocktails, ligh refreshments, a DJ and a suspense-filled night as they try to figure out who among their neighbors pulled off the heist! Tickets are $125/person and dress is cocktail, Thomas Crown Affair - inspired. Sprinkles Cupcakes Raises $3,500 for Summer Concerts

That's a lot of cupcakes!

Sprinkles Cupcakes raised $3,500 to support Georgetown's summer Concerts in the Park series. The events, organized by the Citizens Association of Georgetown (CAG), are free to the public. From May 16 through May 20 the M Street cupcakery donated all proceeds from the sale of vanilla cupcakes to CAG. The funds will help cover costs like "the bands, the show mobiles and generators (rented from the city); publicity, park usage fees, banners, Playbills, etc." as Betsey Cooley, the executive director for CAG, said in a previous interview with Patch.

Sunday marked  the opening of the summer Concerts in the Park series in Georgetown, organized by the Citizens Association of Georgetown. The event Sunday was at Volta Park. The next concert will be at Rose Park on June 19 for Fathers' Day The event draws young and old from the neighborhood for a casual evening of live music.
