Prescription Drug "Take-Back" Today
Residents can turn in old and unused prescription drugs through the Drug Enforcement Administration program coordinated by local agencies.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is coordinating with local authorities to allow District residents a safe way to dispose of expired or unused prescription drugs. Today Georgetown residents can drop off medication at the Second District HQ at 3320 Idaho Ave., NW. According to the DEA "studies indicate that individuals that abuse prescription drugs often obtained them from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.” During last September's collection Americans returned 121 tons of prescription drugs, according to the DEA.
