Georgetown Student Home During Burglary
An off-campus home was burglarized Monday, Sept. 17.
A Georgetown student's off-campus home on the 1400 block of 36th street was burglarized some time between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to a Georgetown University Department of Public Safety (DPS) notice. The burglar made off with electronics, DPS said. There were no signs of forced entry at the home located on 36th between O and P Streets, NW. Though a resident was home during the incident he or she did not make any contact with the intruder, the report states. MPD and DPS have no look out or description of a suspect. Students were alerted about the incident via email around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Two words....Lock Door. After more than 20 years of living in the west side of Georgetown as both a student and a homeowner, it is unlocked doors that create easy targets of opportunity. I know that folks don't want to bother with carrying a key but if they would then the folks who check doors to see if they are open to run in and grab a computer, iPad, etc...wouldn't succeed.
