Fleurir Hand Grown Chocolates Expands to Old Town

Husband and wife Georgetown small business owners are opening their second store in Old Town.

Chocoholics – and pretty much everyone else – rejoice. Fleurir Hand Grown Chocolates is expanding. Husband and wife team Robert Ludlow and Ashley Hubbard are opening their second store on 724 Jefferson St. this week in Old Town. The duo opened their first store on P Street in Georgetown, but their second shop is something of a homecoming. They started and grew their business selling chocolates at the Old Town Farmer’s Market. They searched for a place in Old Town, but veered away from popular King Street. Ludlow said they love the street’s historic charm, but fashion over function came home to roost when considering antique wooden floors and whether or not they would safely hold machinery, including a 1,000 pound piece of equipment. Fudgesicles for Grownups at Georgetown Business

In heat like this, Fleurir Chocolates knows grownups need a cool treat too.

In a city known for its hot, humid summers, Fleurir Chocolate boutique on P Street is reminding people that chocolate can be a refreshing summer treat. Look for grownup version of fudgesicles starting Friday. The husband and wife team, Ashley Hubbard and Robert Ludlow, behind Fleurir are always playing with new ideas and coming up with new chocolate creations. "We've been developing this and playing with recipes for the last two months," said Hubbard. According to Ludlow, the process for making fudgesicles "does actually follow a similar process as making a ganache, but the proportions are all completely different in order to get it to freeze- and you replace the cream with milk."
