ShopHouse Coming to Former Furin's Space

The 'fast-casual' Asian restaurant will replace Georgetown's beloved neighborhood diner.

ShopHouse, the fast casual Southeast Asian-inspired restaurant, is moving into the former Furin's space, according to the Georgetown Metropolitan. Furin's closed in July 2011 after 27 years at 2805 M St. ShopHouse currently has a location in Dupont Circle. According to their Facebook page, the "menu includes distinctly spiced homemade curries and sauces, fresh vegetables and herbs, artisanal organic tofu, and meats raised responsibly without the use of antibiotics or added hormones." What Should Take Furin's Place in Georgetown?

This local luncheonette and bakery shut its doors months ago. What would you like to see there?

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning - Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table. Each week we'll present a new vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community? We launch this new weekly series by featuring the now vacant building at 2805 M St. NW, the former home of Furin's of Georgetown. Owner Bernie Furin decided to close the store last July after 27 years in Georgetown. Over the years, the restaurant had grown…
