Karzai's GU Visit Could Snarl Neighborhood Traffic

Hamid Karzai, president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, will speak about the future of Afghan-U.S. Relations at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Georgetown University.

Residents of Burleith and Georgetown's West Village can expect additional security and traffic Friday afternoon because Hamid Karzai, president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, will be speaking at Georgetown University (GU). The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on the Georgetown University campus. GU's Office of Community Engagement notified neighborhood leaders in an email Thursday: "This event, which is scheduled to take place on campus tomorrow afternoon, may result in additional security and traffic in the area as well as cars pulling into and parking in Healy Circle. Therefore, we wanted to inform you of the event beforehand in case anyone has any questions." This is Karzai's third time speaking at Georgetown University. His talk …
