Girl Scout Cookies Arrive in Georgetown

Sales began Friday and there is a booth planned in Georgetown Sunday.

Girl Scout Cookies are now available in Georgetown. Cookie sales began Friday and will continue through March 24. From 9:30am to 2 p.m. Sunday you can stop by Saxbys Coffee, 1332 35th St. NW, to get your "fix," as a note on the Georgetown list serv joked. by Breauna Johnson Girl Scout Cookies are on sale in the Greater Washington Region. Girl Scouts are taking orders now for delivery of cookies starting Feb 6. Girl Scout Cookie booths outside local stores will run from February 22 - March 24, 2013. Each box of Girl Scout Cookies cost $4.00 with all proceeds staying in the Greater Washington Region to support local Girl Scout activities. What started as a bake sale in 1917 has grown into the largest girl-led entrepreneurial business in the nation. Last year in the Greater Washington Region, over 4.5 million boxes of Girl Scout Cookies were sold. Proceeds from the sale are used to support local troop activities like travel and community service projects; and to maintain Girl Scout camps, …

Girl Scout Cookie Booth Sales Start Friday in DC

Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at several locations and events throughout the DC metro area starting this Friday and continuing through March 24. Many times, dates and locations for cookie sale booths are already set.  Enter your ZIP code into the Girl Scouts’ Cookie Locator application (or click here if it's not appearing correctly for you above). You may also download the Girl Scout cookies locator mobile app. Nearby you will find scouts at Jetties, 1609 Foxhall Rd. NW, on March 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the locator. Sales are dependent, in part, on the weather. Girl Scout cookies are $4 this year. Girl Scout troops in the DC region are taking cookie orders for delivery beginning Feb. 6 and will begin selling boxes outside area stores Feb. 22 through March 24. Since 1917, the Girl Scouts of the United States of America have been selling baked goods to raise funds to support local community service projects, maintain Girl Scout camps, develop programs and provide financial support to girls in need. Last year, in the Washington, DC, area alone, more than 4.5 million boxes of cookies were sold. While scouts still sell cookies door-to-door, the Girl Scouts have gone high-tech in the last few years, offering the "Cookie Club" website—which allows scouts to sell cookies via email—and launching the Girl Scout Cookie Locator app so that one …

The D.C. region will soon see an influx of Thin Mints and other cookie favorites.

Ask Asha Anderson, an Ambassador Girl Scout from Troop 560 in Northwest D.C., about her favorite type of Girl Scout cookie, and you’ll hear this response: “Thank You Berry Munch,” she says, “I never really thought that cranberries or fruit would be that good in a cookie mix but it really is delicious and I like it a lot.” It’s that time of the year: Girl Scouts across the Washington D.C. area are going door-to-door selling eight cookie varieties to raise funds for their troops and for the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC).
