Leaf collection begins this week in Georgetown. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will pass through each neighborhood in the city at least twice for two weeks, according to a DPW press release. Georgetown's alotted weeks are Nov. 5 through Nov. 17 and again later Dec. 3 through Dec. 15. Glover Park and the Palisades area will have leaf collection Nov. 19 through Dec. 1 and Dec. 17 through Dec. 29. DPW Director William O. Howland, Jr. called leaf collection his agency's "most labor-intensive operation" because it involves some 200 personnel working six days out of seven.
