Guy Mason Dog Park Re-Opens

After closing for a renovation, the dog park is unofficially open once again.

The Guy Mason dog park, which closed in October for renovations, quietly re-opened some time in the last few weeks. Dogs and owners have been enjoying the upgrade thanks to D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the Dogs of Guy Mason Alliance (DOGMA). According to an email sent to the DOGMA group: "There is more seating, new mulch, a taller fence. There are still a few kinks to work out, but it's a great space for your pup to get some exercise and socialize." Earlier this year, users of the 6,400-square-foot ad hoc dog park at Guy Mason Recreation Center organized as the Dogs of Guy Mason Alliance (DOGMA) to formally register the dog park. Glover Park Dog Park Nearing Completion

The dog park at Guy Mason Recreation Center in Glover Park should open in early December, a pre-holiday holiday gift for its canine patrons. Earlier this year, users of a 6,400-square-foot, ad hoc dog park at Guy Mason Recreation Center organized as the Dogs of Guy Mason Alliance (DOGMA) to formally register the dog park next to the baseball field. The park closed on Oct. 15 for construction activities and, according to an email from DOGMA coordinators Adriana Cordero and Amanda MacKaye, it should open in early December. According to the email: "The ground has been leveled, the trees and shrubs carefully marked so as not to be disturbed, and the five-tall fence is up. Guy Mason Dog Park Closing for Upgrade

The local park will closed beginning Oct. 15.

The Guy Mason dog park is getting an upgrade starting this weekend thanks to the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation. The park will close Oct. 15 and remain closed for the next six to eight weeks. According to a posting on the Glover Park listserv: "The length of the project is due to the other renovations happening at Guy Mason at the same time, such as improvements to the parking area. When all is said and done we'll see: • New taller fencing! • Fresh new mulch! • A third bench! • Running water!"
