Hu's Still Bringing Restaurant to Former Bartleby's Space
The book store closed in July, but the space will require significant renovations before a restaurant can open at 1132 29th St., NW.
Hu's Wear and Hu's Shoes owners Eric Eden and Marlene Hu Aldaba say they are plugging away "slowly, but steadily" with their plans to bring a Mediterranean-style eatery to 29th Street in Georgetown. Hu's signed a voluntary agreement with the Georgetown community in October 2010 to bring a restaurant with seating for 120 people inside and 60 outside to the space, just south of M Street on 29th Street. Bartleby's Books closed in July 2011, but there has been little sign of movement or activity at 1132 29th St., NW since that time.
