GBA to Georgetown Businesses: 'Roll Up Your Sleeves'

The Georgetown Business Association has an active agenda for 2013.

Janine Schoonover, the incoming vice president of the Georgetown Business Association (GBA), called on members old and new to get more involve in the shaping the Georgetown business community in 2013. Schoonover offered her remarks at the 2012 annual meeting and holiday soiree Wednesday evening at the Dumbarton House. "Georgetown is much more than Wisconsin Avenue and M Street and connecting the many shops and galleries of Book Hill with the excitement of the Georgetown Waterfront is vital," Schoonover said. Her company JSW group owns/operates several businesses in Georgetown, including Rhino Bar and Serendipity 3. Short Film Highlights the Work of Horton's Kids in Ward 8

Non-profit supports children and families in Ward 8.

An Emmy-nominated filmmaker's new short documentary film will show others what many Georgetowners already knew: Horton's Kids is changing lives in DC's Ward 8. The non-profit provides tutoring and support services to 565 children and 125 families who live east of the Anacostia River. There are kids living in the District who do not have a promise of three meals a day or new clothes and backpacks each school year.
