Georgetown Library, Tudor Place Honored for Historic Preservation
The Ninth Annual Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation were held Thursday
Two Georgetown institutions — Georgetown Neighborhood Library and Tudor Place — received awards for excellence in historic preservation at a ceremony Thursday. The Excellence in Historic Preservation awards are in their ninth year. Mayor Vincent Gray and representatives from the D.C. Office of Planning’s (OP) Historic Preservation Office recognized projects this year that "represent an investment of $272.5 million in historic districts and landmarks in the District," according to a press release. “Properly done, historic preservation adds not only to our quality of life, but also to our economic well-being and long-term appeal as a beautiful, historic and well-preserved city full of aesthetic and cultural treasures," said Gray in a …
