In honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, District government services are canceled or limited and metro continues repairs
In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, District government agencies and public schools are closed. Metro took advantage of the long weekend to continue necessary repairs throughout the system. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will not collect trash Monday, nor will they be enforcing parking meters or residential parking restrictions. Because of the holiday, DPW will make Tuesday and Friday trash collections on Wednesday and Saturday. Metro's blue and orange line will not service stations from Rosslyn to Farragut West; Foggy Bottom-GWU station will be closed during the MLK Holiday Weekend to reopen Tuesday. No Orange or Blue Line trains will run between Rosslyn and Farragut West Stations. Single track between East and West Falls Church.
Metrorail has seized the opportunity of a federal holiday weekend to make repairs to the Orange and Blue line tracks between Rosslyn and Farragut West stations. On Martin Luther King weekend, WMATA will ferry its riders across the Potomac on shuttle buses. "Customers should add an extra 40 minutes to travel through the impacted area," reads the press release. Foggy Bottom station will be closed entirely. The closure will start on Friday, Jan. 14 at 10pm and last until the tunnel reopens for the first train the following Tuesday morning.
