Developer Looks to Sell Washington Harbour Complex

MRP Realty just finished a $50 million renovation of The Washington Harbour.

MRP Realty plans to sell the Washington Harbour complex now that its $50 million renovation is complete, The Washington Business Journal reports. MRP purchased the complex for $244.5 million, in June 2010 with investment partner Rockpoint Group LLC. Now The Washington Business Journal reports the owners have hired Holliday Fenoglio Fowler (HFF) to market the site, which could sell for as much as $400 million. “We really love the project. We really have put our heart and soul into it, and we’re excited when we see value created,” MRP Managing Principal Bob Murphy told The Washington Business Journal. Washington Harbour Condo Owners Move to Block New Development

The Washington Harbour condominium owners want to stop developer from building new residential project on K Street.

Condominium owners at the Washington Harbour have appealed to the Board of Zoning Adjustment to prevent a new six-story residential building under evaluation by property owner MRP Realty, according to the Washington Business Journal. The Washington Business Journal explains: The Jan. 4 appeal with the Board of Zoning Adjustments is over a project that an MRP representative told us in November was little more than an "internal evaluation." MRP, spokeswoman Julie Chase said at the time, 'has no intention right now of pursuing' the 88-unit multifamily building, or 120-room inn, on K Street NW at its intersection with 30th Street." Old Georgetown Board Sends Several Development Projects Back to the Drawing Board

Several projects foundered before the critical eye of the Old Georgetown Board Thursday.

The Old Georgetown Board (OGB) sent several large projects back to the drawing board as architects and developers struggled to make their designs meet the board's high standards at the board's September meeting, Thursday. Washington Harbour The first issue for the board with the Harbour was to what extent its review was needed since the architecture is technically not within the historic period of significance for Georgetown. But eventually both Anne Lewis and Stephen Vanze decided that the key role the Washington Harbour plays in the local architecture merited a thorough review. ANC Wrap Up, September Meeting

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission reviewed several new and several return projects, including a skating rink at the Washington Harbour.

After an eventful community comment portion of the evening, the Advisory Neighborhood Commission considered several development projects Monday, including a proposed skating rink at the Georgetown waterfront and a seven-unit, four-story condo proposed for a tiny corner of Cecil Place. Skating Rink at the Georgetown Waterfront?

MRP Realty is reportedly considering having an ice skating rink at the Washington Harbour complex during winter months

The Washington Harbour at the Georgetown waterfront could be the home of an 11,000-square-foot, outdoor skating rink during the cold winter months, says owners MRP Realty in an article in the Washington Post. The skating rink would be part of the proposed makeover of the entire complex at the Georgetown waterfront. The rink would cover a space that in the summer months would be a fountain, offering a similar aesthic to the one currently in place. If you’re looking for a way to end your weekend with a tropical island feel, then the Washington Harbour is the place for you on Sundays this summer. Part of a three-part summer concert series sponsored by the Harbour, Steel Drum Sundays have created relaxing way to end the weekend. “On a Sunday afternoon, sitting by the water, drink in hand, it feels tropical, it feels right,” said MRP Realty Property Manager for the Harbour Jenny DeMeo. “It’s a perfect atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon.” Starting June 1 and running through September 25, the live steel drum music is free from noon to 3 p.m. Performances are centrally located between the fountain and the river.
