Foursquare Mayor of Citronelle, Rokas Beresniovas, shares his thoughts on the prestigious honor and one of his favorite places for a drink.
Rokas Beresniovas is the vice president of Business Banking (Capital Region) with Wells Fargo and a business consulting entrepreneur. He is also the Foursquare Mayor at Michel Richard's Citronelle. Upon entering the restaurant Beresniovas shook hands with the bartender, who knew him on a first name basis. The Lithuanian-born businessman is also the Vice President of the Georgetown Business Association. Patch: How long have you been the Mayor at Citronelle? RB: I have been the Mayor at Citronelle for three months. Patch: Do you have any competition for the title? Have you ever been ousted but regained it? RB: Yes. I have had competition for the title, and one time I did lose it, but I gained it back. Patch: Do you get special treatment as …

What's the best item on the menu? What's the best day to avoid crowds? We ask a regular: the Foursquare mayor gives Georgetown Patch personal insight on area businesses.
Another week, another mayor. This week Mickey M. shares his thoughts on holding the prestigious title of Foursquare mayor at Pizzeria Paradiso. Mickey casually chatted with the bartenders and drifted in and out of conversations easily with other fellow regulars. When you are the Foursquare mayor, you are always a familiar face. Patch: How long have you been the mayor at Pizzeria Paradiso? MM: About two years ago, some friends who live and work nearby started joining me for a regular happy hour at Pizzeria Paradiso, which has a terrific half-price happy hour on its taps every Tuesday and Wednesday. Although most beer nerds go on Tuesday, I generally show up on Wednesday for a mid-week happy hour. I started using FourSquare to check in and…

Thursday, Mayor-elect Vincent Gray made additional announcements about appointees to his new administration. Gray will bring many familiar faces from his Council staff to work with him as Mayor.
In a press conference Thursday, Mayor-elect Vince Gray announced seven additional appointees to his new administration, two of which require Council approval. The appointees like Eric Goulet, the current Budget Director for the Council, are familiar faces in D.C government and demonstrate that Gray is bringing his current team along with him to his mayoral administration. Still looming in the shadows are announcements about current District Agency heads who have not resigned or received formal termination letters, such as Police Chief Cathy Lanier. Gray called his team a group of "highly qualified" people who were not new to District government and who would be "responsible to residents" of D.C. When asked if being a Fenty administration …

Another week, another mayor. This week Gideon L. shares his thoughts on holding the prestigious title of Foursquare mayor at Billy Martin's Tavern.
I stepped in the door at Martin's Tavern, more specifically, Billy Martin's Tavern named after the fourth-generation owner of the local establishment, and looked around for the foursquare mayor, Gideon L. At 5 p.m. on a Friday, the bar had a few seats still available. I approached one business-looking guy with a blackberry and asked, "Are you Gideon?" His response? "No, but I'm familiar with his Bible." Ah, bar patron profile now complete. I asked the bartender if he had a regular named Gideon and if he happened to be at the bar. He responded quickly that he was not there yet. I grabbed a few seats and soon Gideon joined me; his drink was delivered without even placing an order. Later, Billy Martin himself stopped by to chat. He and …

Another week, another mayor. This week Brian G. shares his thoughts on holding the prestigious title of mayor at Booeymonger.
This week's mayor is Brian G., a Georgetown resident and the holder of the title of Mayor at Booeymonger. Brian strolled in comfortably to his favorite haunt and quickly made a suggestion off the menu when this writer was initially overwhelmed by the options. Brian said he loves the place because it is such a local hot spot; established residents stop by every morning, Jack Evans has been seen here on occasion and then of course there are the University students who appreciate the cheap pitchers and late hours. Patch: When did you become Mayor of Booeymonger? How did you feel when you snagged that title? Brian G.: I became the mayor of Booey's about 3 months ago. It felt great when I got the the title because I knew that I was one of the …
