What a Zoo! Caption Contest Winner Declared

It was a tough call, but we've come up with a winner for this photo from the Smithsonian’s National Zoo.

National Zoo’s Lion Cubs Make Public Debut

A “tail” of seven lion cubs at the National Zoo.

Just because the National Zoo is outside of Georgetown, does not mean Georgetowners cannot enjoy cute cuddly lion cubs. The zoo's African lion cubs, born on Aug. 31 and Sept. 22, made their public debut Saturday, to the delight of Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) members. The two litters were born to the Zoo's four-year old male lion Luke, and sister lionesses, five-year old Shera who gave birth to a litter of four cubs and six-year old Nababiep (Naba) who gave birth to a litter of three cubs. The birth of the seven cubs complete the first full pride the National Zoo has seen in 20 years. Introductions: Shera's cubs (born August 31, 2010) John: The only male cub in Shera's litter.
