Escape to these Northern Virginia farms and orchards for apple picking this weekend or throughout the fall.
The first day of autumn is coming up fast (Sept. 22). Along with cooler temperatures, thoughts turn to football, hearty soups, "where did we store the rake?” and the annual family pilgrimage from D.C. to an apple orchard in Virginia or Maryland. If a day at the orchard is not already a family tradition in your home, this year may be the perfect time to make it one. I checked out Mackintosh Fruit Farm, Berryville, Va. over the weekend and am enjoying one of the apples I picked for lunch! The farm was cute and the walking trail was a nice way to extend our time there since it did take 1.5 hours to drive out. I'm sure the rest of the farms here are great, too! -Shaun   more ›
