The tucked away yoga studio will soon offer group mat classes.
Georgetown Pilates has called Hamilton Court (between M and N Streets) its home for the past two years. Now the studio is adding an additional space next to its current unit at 1228 31st St. The plan is to convert the current space, which has been used for private apparatus-based pilates, into a group exercise area for mat-based pilates and some yoga classes. The new studio will then hold all the bars and apparatus equipment for the private lessons to continue. Alma Ramos said she and her business partner, Heather Perry, met when they were both working at Sports Club LA. Fuel Pilates will close its Wisconsin Avenue location just before the Memorial Day weekend and will reopen at 3214 O Street on June 1.
Fuel Pilates needed some room to stretch out, so the studio is moving from its home at 1081 Wisconsin Ave. to a larger space at 3214 O St. Just a year after opening in Georgetown, Fuel has such demand for classes and long waiting lists that the studio needed more space than its current 1,000-square-foot studio could offer. The last class at the Wisconsin Avenue location will be at 7 a.m. May 27. The studio will close for the Memorial Day weekend. On June 1, Fuel will reopen at its new location with some 2,000 square feet of space. Owner Kelly Griffith said constant wait lists will be a thing of the past.
