Work on the bridge over Rock Creek Parkway continues.
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close one lane of Pennsylvania Avenue NW on the bridge over Rock Creek Parkway Friday. Crews will be inspecting the Pennsylvania Avenue NW Bridge over the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway as part of an ongoing project. Drivers should expect slight delays due to the lane closure between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday. According to DDOT, "The center lane on eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue, NW will be closed. The left and right lanes will be kept open on eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue, NW and all westbound lanes will be open." There are also lane closures beneath the bridge on Rock Creek Parkway. Rock Creek Parkway rush hour lane switches will not be in effect Monday.
Rock Creek Parkway, Canal Road and other DC area roadways with reversible lanes will not have reversible lane restrictions enforced Monday because of the Presidents' Day holiday. The incident happened near the P Street entrance to Rock Creek Parkway.
Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane of Rock Creek Parkway are closed Friday morning after a car crashed into a parkway embankment near P Street. The Metropolitan Police Department Twitter account reported the incident just after 9 a.m. Friday. Park Police are on the scene and at 9:40 believed the incident should be cleared in 10 or 15 minutes, according to Sgt. Paul Brooks. Brooks said there were no injuries reported.

Bridge and tunnel inspections impact area roads.
For the next two weeks drivers should expect lane closures on area roads and bridges, including Whitehurst Freeway and Rock Creek Parkway. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is inspecting bridges and tunnels throughout D.C. beginning Monday and ending Sept. 28. Work is scheduled to be done Monday through Friday during off-peak hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. DDOT will close one lane at a time in inspection areas so traffic will still be able to get through.
