For Fall Guac, Add Hazelnuts and Pomegranate Seeds

The Rosa Mexicano Fall Harvest Dinner—designed to highlight seasonal ingredients and local, organic produce from Parker Farms in Oak Grove, VA—is offered only one night (Oct. 24), but here are a few recipes you can make at home, courtesy of the restaurant: *** Spicy Pineapple Salsa (served with roast pork flautas): Cube the pineapple and place in a large saucepan with all of the other ingredients. Simmer for 40 minutes, let cool and serve at room temperature. *** La Abejita  ("The Little Bee") *Local honey syrup: Try to stick with Grade A clover, wildflower, orange blossom or other similar sweet, floral honey. Obama, Biden Kids Dine out in Chevy Chase

Sasha Obama and two of the vice president's granddaughters were among the restaurant-goers in Friendship Heights last Friday night.

Friendship Heights inched up a few notches on the celebrity-spotting scale last Friday, when children of the president and vice president's son paid a visit to Rosa Mexicano for dinner. Rosa Mexicano Shows a Little Lemon Love

This month, Rosa Mexicano is selling a special lemon dessert, the proceeds of which will go toward Alex's Lemonade Stand.

Where better to combine a sweet tooth and a helping hand than in aptly-named Friendship Heights? Throughout August, Rosa Mexicano (5225 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC) is offering a special dessert to raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation -- an organization fighting childhood cancer. The "Gelatina de Limonada" (i.e., lemonade Jell-O) combines horchata lemonade "Jell-O" and Meyer lemon-basil marmalade with raspberry-rose granita for "a sweet and refreshing flan-like treat" that "tastes like a creamy raspberry lemonade,” according to the restaurant.
