Fiscal Cliff Looms as Congress Gets Back to Work

President, Congress have just a few days to avert automatic tax increases and spending cuts.

Thursday, Starbucks baristas from stores across the area will write "come together" on all cups to encourage Congress and the President to come together to fix the fiscal cliff issue. Congress and President Obama are racing against the clock this week as they make one last attempt to hammer out a deal to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff” the U.S. government is set to go over on New Year’s Day. Get a Free Starbucks Refresher Friday

Local shops offering free 12-ounce iced energy drink.

From noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Georgetown residents can stop by area Starbucks locations to try a free 12-ounce "Refresher," the new iced energy drink from the coffee chain. The two new drinks are low in calories and include "real ingredients like blackberries, lime slices, fruit juice and green coffee extract" for a quick boost of energy, the company said on its website. The two iced drinks come in "Cool Lime" and "Very Berry Hibiscus" flavors.  The new "Refresher" line also has sparkling and instant beverages available in cans and powder packets, respectively.
