Thousands of people will fill the streets of Georgetown for this popular fundraising event.
Looking for a way to try signature dishes from Georgetown's top restaurants, all in one place? An epicurean's dream, the 20th Annual Taste of Georgetown will be held June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. "This is a really fun thing to do, it is a chance to taste a lot of different foods and there is something for everyone," said Gunther Stern, Executive Director of the Georgetown Ministry Center, which is the beneficiary of the event. The event, with expected attendance of over 12,000 people, will be held on Wisconsin Avenue between M and K Streets and features over 25 restaurants. Wisconsin Avenue will be closed south of M Street
The 19th annual Taste of Georgetown is today from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. While residents and visitors enjoy some 60 dishes from 30 Georgetown restaurants, drivers should take note: Wisconsin Avenue will be closed between K and M Streets NW. Food tickets are $5 for one tasting and $20 for five tastings. The Wine, Ale and Spirits Tasting Pavilion tickets are $10 for 3, and $4 for one tasting. Tickets may be purchased at the event. Proceeds benefit the Georgetown Ministry Center. The 19th annual taste of Georgetown is June 2
Taste of Georgetown will be Saturday, June 2, moving the 19th annual event from its familiar fall setting into the sunny summer. The Georgetown Business Improvement District changed the season for this year's event to better serve the restaurants that make it a possible, a BID spokesperson said at last month's Advisory Neighborhood Commission. Additionally he said the BID hopes a summer setting will bring in more people, since there are often competing events in the fall. A press release about the event calls it "the only opportunity to taste one's way through Georgetown in an afternoon."
