New Online Resource Makes Finding a Babysitter Easy Kiss last minute scrambles to find a sitter goodbye. UrbanSitter's network for "finding babysitters through friends" has arrived in DC. Georgetown Murder Suspect's Hunger Strike Keeps His Attorneys in Charge Though Albrecht Muth has said he would like to proceed pro se in his defense in the murder trial for his late wife, Viola Drath, a judge said his public defender attorneys are still in charge of the case because of Muth's very poor health. Mice Like Fancy Cheese Too It was a rough 24 hours for Dean & Deluca Wednesday into Thursday. The market and cafe on M Street were both closed by health inspectors and cited with 19 health code violations, including the presence of mouse and rat droppings and roaches. Kennedy Center Plans $100 Million Expansion, New Design The Kennedy Center, an iconic architectural element that shares the Potomac with Georgetown, is looking to expand and re-invent itself through a new design. The Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission voted to oppose plans to bring a bowling alley to the Georgetown Park Mall until the condo residents, the bowling alley owners and the building owner came to an agreement on noise concerns and management. Worst Roommate Ever? A man who lived with Georgetown murder suspect Albrecht Muth and his late wife, Viola Drath, for two months in 2010 testified in DC Superior Court this week. The court is in the midst of a competency hearing to see if Muth can stand trial in the murder of Drath. Jason Cain, a former army logistics specialist, spoke about his interactions with Muth while he lived and interned with him for two months in 2010. Cain made a recording of a conversation in which Muth told him the tricks of the trade for his "influence operations" on important people. The hearing continues this week. Competency Hearing Begins for Georgetown Murder Suspect Monday and Tuesday, Albrecht Muth appeared in DC Superior Court to listen as experts testified about his competency to stand trial. Muth is being held at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and is charged with the death of his late wife, Viola Drath, who was found dead in their Georgetown home in August 2011. One medical expert testified that Muth was delusional and therefore not competent; another looked at the same information and determined that Muth is narcissistic but not crazy. Judge Russell F. Peabody Room Librarian Jerry McCoy Solves a Mystery Through online research McCoy discovers the indentity of an unknown soldier featured in a watercolor housed at the library, "Cavalry Officer at Pleasant Valley, Maryland October 24, 1862." Ice Skating Rink Ready by November And boy are people excited. Patch reported earlier this week that construction has begun on the seasonal ice rink at the Georgetown waterfront. Georgetown Murder Case Closer to Trial This week the attorneys in the Albrecht Muth case updated the judge on their evidence sharing (or alleged insufficient sharing) for the trial for Viola Drath's August 2011 murder. D.C. Artist Gifts a Portrait to a Stranger from Georgetown Portrait artist Nicole Bourgea wanted to use her art to help people notice one another. She painted 10 portraits of perfect strangers she met while walking in D.C. Georgetowner Joy Blair was one of the lucky strangers and her free oil painting was left for her on Wisconsin Avenue this week with a note, "If this is you, this painting is yours to take."
