Metro Accomodates Redskins Fans Monday Night

Metro will stay open an hour later Dec. 3.

If you are relying on Metro for part of your trip home from the Redskins game Monday night, you are in luck. Metro will remain open an extra hour to accommodate fans leaving the Redskins game Monday against the New York Giants at FedEx field. According to a Metro news release, the last Blue Line train in the direction of Franconia-Springfield will leave the Morgan Boulevard station at 12:25 a.m., and the last Blue Line train to Largo Town Center will depart at 1:33 a.m. Metro customers will be able to transfer to other lines at the following stations: Though Metro entrances will close at the normal time, riders will be able to exit from the stations normally.

Taking the Metro to get around this weekend? Here’s what to expect. There will be no track work on the Blue or Yellow lines. According to a Metro news release: Red Line Buses will replace Red Line trains between Fort Totten and Forest Glen to allow for platform reconstruction, signal testing, track maintenance and fiber-optic cable installation. Two stations -- Silver Spring and Takoma -- will be closed. Red Line trains will operate in two segments: Customers traveling through the work zone should allow about 30 minutes of additional travel time. Metro Accepting Orders for Commemorative 2013 Inauguration SmarTrip Cards

Cards cost $15.

Metro has begun accepting orders for commemorative SmarTrip cards for the January inauguration of President Barack Obama. "Inauguration Day, January 21, 2013" and Obama's picture, along with "America Makes History Again" adorn the cards, which are $15. That's only $1 more than a one-day paper pass, according to a news release from the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority. The cards come pre-loaded with a one-day pass that provides unlimited Metrorail travel on the first day it is used. It can also be used as a "flash pass" for unlimited Metrobus transportation on Inauguration Day, the news release states. Cards are expected to ship in mid-December. What's Up with the Metro? — Thanksgiving Day Edition

Metro will be operating on a different schedule Thursday.

WMATA has announced its holiday schedule for Thanksgiving Day: On Friday, Metro will operate on a normal weekday schedule. No track work is scheduled until Sunday evening on the Red and Blue lines.
