Why I Love This Town
Despite faction and facade, Washington still inspires.
The spontaneous celebration in front of the White House Sunday night reminded me of some of the reasons why I love this town. It's certain times when one can look at this city with the utmost of admiration, with its power to unify and inspire. It's become increasingly hard to do over the last decade, but sometimes that glimmer still shines through. We all know the facade that Washington provides. The symbol of a "shining city on a hill" often cloaks the reality of backroom deals, corrupt politicians and the desire to protect the country's interests, at any cost.
