Hyde-Addison and DCPS Celebrate Strawberries and Salad Greens

The third annual event celebrates fresh, local produce

Students across D.C. public schools, including Hyde-Addison in Georgetown, enjoyed lunches and activities that featured fresh, local strawberries and salad greens Wednesday. This is the third year for the event that hopes to prove that students will eat healthy foods if they are selected carefully and taste good. Council member Mary Cheh spoke to a gym full of students at Maury Elementary on Capitol Hill Wednesday, calling their school a "model" for DCPS when it came to fitness and healthy eating. "What we would like is for all the other school to be like you," said Cheh. Maury hosts family activity nights featuring yoga and other exercises. They also have running clubs that run during lunch and after school around nearby Lincoln Park. …
