Watergate Exxon Closed, for Now
The owner says the closure is for renovations and is not permanent.
The Watergate Exxon gas station, known for its very high gas prices, appeared to be shuttered Friday. But The Washington City Paper reports that the closure is temporary. The Washington Post's John Kelly was the first local media outlet to report that the gas station appeared to be closed Friday afternoon. According to the City Paper, owner Joe Mamo said the station was closed for "renovations." Earlier this year, Kelly wrote about the infamously expensive gas station, explaining that the high prices seem to be the result of an ongoing disagreement between Mamo, who owns the station and Roland Joun, who operates it.
