2014 National Cherry Blossom Festival Schedule, Events, Things To Do
Events kick off today in anticipation of the dates for April cherry bossoms peak 2014.
If warming temperatures haven't told you that spring has arrived, the National Cherry Blossom Festival should do the trick.
While The National Park Service has announced that the 2014 peak cherry blossoms bloom (defined as when 70% of the blossoms are open) won't arrive until April 8 – 12, the festival begins today, March 20, and goes through Sunday, April 13.
Today's spotlight of things to do, from the festival committee:
As part of its Youth Programs, the National Cherry Blossom Festival invites students from DC public and public charter schools in grades K through 12 to participate in the Youth Art Contest and Community Art Show. Each year, a creative theme is developed, and contest entries are judged by a panel assembled by the Festival.
The public can enjoy the students’ creativity and help select the overall contest winner by casting your vote online or in person at Pepco Edison Place Gallery March 20- April 18!
