Live Lobsters Now Available for Purchase at Luke's Lobster

Lobster roll shop expands into selling live lobster and meat by the pound.

Luke's Lobster, founded by 2007 Georgetown University graduate Luke Holden in 2009, is now selling live lobsters and lobster by the pound in addition to its locally famous lobster rolls.

The Georgetown location, which opened at 1211 Potomac St., NW in August 2012, will now host Luke's Maine Market.

It’s really difficult to find fresh lobster in Georgetown,” Ben Conniff, the company’s Vice President, told Brightest Young Things.  “Not many people sell it and it’s very expensive but cause we have direct access to it, we really wanted to offer it at an affordable price.”

Fans of the fresh, cooked lobster meat found in Luke's sandwiches can bring some home for their own culinary creations. There will be a pre-order program for live lobster ($10 per pound) pickups every Tuesday and Friday, as well as limited availability of lobsters for same-day sale.

There will also frozen lobster tails available for same-day sale ($5 per pound) and fresh lobster claw and knuckle meat ($50 per pound).
