Stop Work Ordered at Former Grace and Bamboo Shop

Nearby residents had noticed construction but no permits at 3206 Grace St. NW.

An orange stop work order is plastered on the windows of the former Grace and Bamboo space at 3206 Grace St. NW in Georgetown.

On May 24, an inspector visited the space — the last building on the southside of Grace Street and west of Wisconsin Avenue NW — and finding that interior demolition was occurring without the required permits, issued a Stop Work Order.

In March the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs issued permits for electrical and plumbing work at the property, but there was no permit for interior renovations or demolition.

Since the Stop Work Order was issued, the contractors have filed a permit application for interior renovation work, but DCRA spokesman Helder Gil said that application has not been approved and the building permit has not been issued.

It is unclear what the future use of the site will be, but when (and if) the permit is approved, Patch will provide updates.
