Update: Key Bridge Reopened After Bomb Threat

The bridge was closed for about an hour.

Update (11:36 a.m.): The Key Bridge has been reopened after a bomb threat turned out to be a false alarm, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

"There was nothing found," police spokeswoman Saray Leon told Patch.

The scene has been cleared and all lanes of the bridge are open.

Original story: The Key Bridge is closed in both directions Thursday for a suspicious package investigation.

Police were alerted to the package by a phone call Thursday morning. The PIO office was subsequently informed at 10:30 a.m., spokeswoman Tisha Gant said.

Gant told Patch that MPD's Explosive Ordinance Division is responding to the suspicious package at this time. She did not have any additional information.

Arlington County issued an alert at 10:45 a.m. saying that traffic would be routed away from the bridge for "several hours."

Patch will provide updates as more information becomes available.
