D.C. Mayor Gray: Just Say No to Maryland Beaches This Weekend

His Honor doesn't want Maryland congressman overturning city's marijuana decriminalization law.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray is telling DC residents to just say no to visiting the beaches of Maryland this holiday weekend.

Why? He disagrees with some Maryland politicians' views on DC decriminalizing marijuana, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Gray said Wednesday at a press conference that DC residents shouldn't support Rep. Andy Harris, whose district includes beach communities in Maryland. According to the AP, he successfully attached an amendment to a House budget bill that would overturn the city's marijuana decriminalization law.

The nonprofit group D.C. Vote called for a boycott of all vacation spots in Harris' district, the AP report said.

Harris, a Republican, says spending the weekend on the family-friendly Eastern Shore is more important than increasing drug use by DC teens.
