WOW! DC's Most Expensive Home

Georgetown's historic Williams-Addison gains attention for its new listing price.

The historic Williams-Addison house at 1645 31st St., N.W., was listed again less than a month ago at $16.8 million.

A price that DC Curbed said makes the nine-bedroom, 13-bathroom home the 'most expensive' listing in all of D.C.

Capital City Real Estate bought the 10,000-square-foot mansion in 2012 and has since invested millions to modernize the original 19th century design, according to the listing website.

The house has been a designated landmark since 1964 and has been home to some of Georgetown's oldest families, a famous philanthropist and a well-known journalist, the website said.

The house has changed hands three times in the last 10 years. Selling for more than $6 million twice and once for $5 million, according to Zillow.

Capital City Real Estate bought the house, then gutted, for nearly $7 million, more than doubling its price after renovations.

The real-estate company boasts an elevator, sauna, media room, wine cellar, catering kitchen and bathroom "amenities to rival a world-class spa."

The grounds include three-quarters of an acre and a carriage house with a one-car garage. The real-estate company has already gotten approval for a pool, tennis court and additional two-car garage, the website said.
