Police: String of Burglaries Mostly Involved Unlocked Garages

Police have increased uniformed police patrols in the residential area of Georgetown in response to these incidents.

Police have increased their presence in the residential section of Georgetown after a string of burglaries were reported over the weekend.

The Georgetown community was hit with as many as eight instances of burglary between Thursday and Monday.

MPD released additional information about several of the reported burglaries, including that nearly all instances involved burglars stealing items from unlocked garages. 

The burglars most commonly stole bikes from garages, with the exception of one instance of burglary at Georgetown University where a hair dryer was stolen. 

Police as residents to dial 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity.
